Burgos is a small town and a 5th class municipality. Our Population slowly grows at is around a little more around 11,000. The pandemic has hit us hard especially with the halt in transportation and the tourism sectors which is one of the blood lives of the municipality. We are grateful that we were able to prevent the spread of the disease for a year with the vigilance of our people and our front liners from the barangays, the Municipal Health Office, and the MDRRM office.
We never rested, we immediately distributed relief packages to all families, groceries, and cash of P 500.00 for everyone, and the groceries were rationed on a per individual basis. More than the appreciation of other towns and the province for our system, my peace was gained by the people’s peace of mind that they will never go feeling viciously affected by the pandemic. We also lent our vehicles for dialysis patients who had to go according to their schedules.
Nutrition has never been neglected during these tough times, we still conducted annual monitoring and evaluation at the municipal level and became the provincial outstanding winner. Providing alternative skills for mothers of undernourished children was also conducted, to provide mothers with an alternative source of livelihood in the time of the pandemic (Skills Training on Manicure/Pedicure and Foot Spa). We also took care of our pregnant citizens by giving them pre-natal milk during their 1st and 2nd trimesters. I commend Mr. Orlino U. Ibus Jr. for being consistent in his outstanding work and our Barangay Nutrition Scholar from Poblacion Ms. Mylene B. Magaoay for being a finalist in 2019 for the Regional Outstanding BNS.
To date, we already have an Approved Budget for 2022 to use for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) amounting to P100,00.00 and we are continually aiming to increase this fund in the succeeding years. These are our humble steps and from our humble town, we extend our appreciation for recognizing our efforts.
Thank you very much and may God keep us safe and healthy as we see the end of this pandemic and other crises that we may face.
