arbosTUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A signing of a Memorandum of Understanding was made between the Department of Agrarian Reform Regional Office 2 (DAR RO 2) and the National Nutrition Council Regional Office 2 (NNC RO 2) for the efficient and effective implementation of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation in the province of Isabela and Cagayan. Likewise, a Marketing Agreement on Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (E-PAHP) between Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in the province of Isabela and Cagayan and NNC RO 2 was also forged. Both activities were undertaken on July 30, 2021 at Balai ti Mannalon, DAR Regional Office 2.

National Nutrition Council Region 02 was represented by Nutrition Program Coordinator Maria Gisela Lonzaga, whereas, DAR Region 2 was represented by Cagayan Valley Regional Director Samuel Solomero, Cagayan Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Arthur Faeldon and Isabela Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Eunomio Israel.

The activities support the implementation of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program which aims to contribute to the prevention of stunting among children 0-23 months by giving improved quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of related ECCD F1K services among nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women of the province of Cagayan and Isabela.

The Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program in Cagayan Valley will cover a total of 1,205 pregnant women from 15 LGUs of Cagayan and 480 pregnant women from 11 LGUs, 2 component cities and 1 independent city of Province of Isabela.

 National Nutrition Council Region 2 will oversee the implementation of the program in both provinces, coordinate with the LGUs and orient them on the implementing guidelines, procure raw ingredients through the partner ARBOs and ensure the proper coordination and active engagement with LGUs, Non-government Organizations, civil society organizations (CSOs) and academe undertaking the feeding program.

Representatives of DAR Region 2, DAR Provincial Offices of Cagayan and Isabela, NNC R02 and ARBOs shared their statement of commitment to the program. They assured that they will give their full support and assistance for the whole duration of the supplementary program for its successful implementation. – Frances Vea Valdez
