TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN----- Armed with commitment to evaluate nutrition workers and observing minimum health standards and protocol, Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) R02 kicked-off the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI-PRO) in Province of Quirino last 18-19 August 2022.

Annually, the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation or MELLPI is conducted by an interagency nutrition evaluation team from the national to provincial/ city/municipal levels to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of local nutrition program management and implementation.

The National and Regional Evaluation Team used the enhanced version of MELLPI called MELLPI Pro.  The MELLPI Pro is used to monitor and evaluate performance of local government units at all levels and local nutrition focal points like the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Nutrition Action Officers and District/City /Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator.

“We are ready to finally conduct MELLPI Pro for Local Nutrition Workers and to assess and give recognition to our Nutrition Heroes who continued the implementation of nutrition program in the region despite the threats of COVID 19 pandemic ,” says Ms. Maria Gisela M. Lonzaga, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator-NNC R02.

The RNET evaluated Provincial Outstanding BNSs from Brgy. Baguio Village, Provincial Outstanding MNPC and Provincial Outstanding MNAO were all in municipality of Diffun, Quirino. Both PNAOs and Provincial Outstanding DNPC of province of Quirino were also evaluated.

The RNET were composed of National Nutrition Council, and Philippine Information Agency during the kick-off MELLPI Pro. Other members of the RNET will join other  MELLPI pro schedules in the coming days.

In Region II, all the provinces and cities are already recipients of Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest nutrition award and there are no entries for search for the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition. Hence, RNET R02 focused their evaluation to local nutrition focal points.###JOHN NESTOR L. BALLAD
