TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN----NNC R2 assisted the Local Government Units of Isabela Province in the recently conducted First Batch Planning Workshop on 2023-2025 Local Nutrition Action Plan Finalization last 18-19 October 2022 at Brentwood Apartelle, Brentwood Village, Baguio City.
It was attended by forty-five (45) Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, Municipal Health Officers, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, Municipal Agriculturists, Municipal Planning and Development Officers and other member of Local Nutrition Committees from LGUs of Isabela including NNC R02 facilitators and secretariat.
The activity aimed to provide technical assistance to LGUs in the finalization of their 2023-2025 LNAPs with consideration to nutrition program updates and the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling being implemented starting this year.
Ms. Maria Gisela M. Lonzaga, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC Region 02 welcomed the participants and formally opened the 2-day planning workshop. She recognized the important roles of LGU planning team in formulating their respective LNAPs and to ensure that these are integrated in the local development plans and annual investment programs for assured budget and implementation. She also thanked everyone for exerting efforts in the efficient and effective implementation of nutrition programs, projects, and activities included in their current LNAPs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuguegarao City- The Regional Nutrition Committee Region 02 held its 3rd Quarter Joint meeting of Regional Nutrition Committee, Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team, Regional Nutrition Cluster, Regional Nutrition Shepherding Team and ECCD-F1K Technical Working Group, s. 2022 on October 6, 2022 at Las Palmas de San Jose Hotel, Tuguegarao City.
The meeting was attended by fifteen (15) member agencies and organizations in the region. Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, MPH, CESO IV, Regional Director IV of DOH CVCHD, and Chair of the RNC, welcomed the participants and called the meeting to order through a recorded video.
NO III Edzell Arcinue shared that the first cycle of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program had been concluded in the region with much positive feedbacks from the LGUs and beneficiaries. He also shared the activities conducted by the Regional Nutrition Shepherding Team (RNST) including advocacy meetings and shepherding plan of action for the shepherding areas prepared by the RNST which was approved by the RNC. NO II Arcinue then proceeded in the presentation of the 2022 Nutrition Month Accomplishment Report where he thanked the active and unwavering support of the RNC members and LGUs for the successful Nutrition Month celebration in the region.

The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) follow through the 2022 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) in municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya on 28-30 September.
The RNET members met with the Brgy. Wacal Barangay Nutrition Committee during the day one of the evaluation to evaluate BNS Jennifer Collado- Barangay Nutrition Scholar. While the other team proceeded to MNAO Dr. Ruth Reyes, Dupax Del Norte as the Provincial Outstanding MNAO The team conducted desk review and interview with BNS Collado and MNAO Reyes. BNS Collado undergone ROBNS Examination.
Day 2 of the evaluation was conducted in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya wherein the RNET evaluated MNPC Shime Lei Infante as the Provincial Outstanding MNPC.
The RNET concluded the visit with an evaluation for DNPC Ruben Ramuel Ambatali II and shared initial feedback and findings to PNC members.
During the learning/feedback session, the evaluators expressed the importance of documentation and record keeping and accomplishment reports. This dimension was also an area that municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya needed to finish strong on especially with the MELLPI Pro tool being an evidence-based type of assessment.
RNET was composed of evaluators from Philippine Information Agency, Buruea of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and National Nutrition Council Region 02.

Tuguegarao City- The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) Region 02 held its Series 1 of 2023-2028 Regional Plan of Action on Nutrition (RPAN) Formulation Workshop of RNC Region 02 on October 12, 2022, at Las Palmas de San Jose Hotel, Tuguegarao City. The workshop was attended by RNC national government member agencies and NGOs of the RNC Region 02. The program of the workshop included activities to formulate a comprehensive and holistic 2023- 2028 RPAN.
The workshop started with the presentation of the workshop over and mechanics by NO III Edzell Arcinue. A presentation of the RPAN 2019-2022 was done by NPC Lonzaga to have a review of the previous plan. The accomplishment of the 2019-2022 RPAN Outcomes and accomplishments were also presented by DMO II, Mr. John Nestor Ballad and NO III Arcinue. The presentation included a presentation of the RNC Members and LGU accomplishments on Infant and Young Child Feeding.

Tuguegarao City – The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) conducted the 2022 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) in Santiago City on 20 September 2022.
MELLPI Pro is the monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition at the local level. The MELLPI Pro is a local sub-system of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) Results Framework. The results chains, activity, output, outcome, and impact are depicted in the six dimensions within a local government context. Activities and outputs in the MELLPI Pro are the local translation of the identified priority policies, services, and training expressed in the PPAN Results Framework. The outcome and impacts in the sub-system, on the other hand, refer to the conditional and behavioral changes in the specific areas/ target groups and their contribution to the national targets.
The monitoring started with a courtesy meeting with members of the Santiago City Nutrition Committee. An AVP was played to share the initiative of the city in their nutrition program.

TUGUEGARAO CITY - The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) Region 02 conducted the deliberation of regional contenders for the Outstanding Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFP) on 04 October 2022 at NNC Regional Office Conference Room.
This year, the RNET R02 visited and evaluated Provincial/City Outstanding LNFPs of five provinces and three cities in the region.
Based on the deliberation, the RNET identified the following regional winners to be recognized: (1) Provincial Nutrition Action Officer; (2) City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officer; (3) City Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator; and (4) Barangay Nutrition Scholar.
This year’s RNET was chaired by the National Economic and Development Authority Region 02, with members from Philippine Information Agency Region 02 , Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 02, Department of Trade and Industry Region 02, Commission on Population and Development Region 02, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 02 and National Nutrition Council Region 02.
