17 June 2016 – The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) of NNC MIMAROPA has completed its Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and Search for the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) 2015. The MELLPI season in the region commenced on the first week of April 2016. All the provinces and cities in the region were visited by the RNET. There, they conducted desk evaluation of the provincial/ city/ municipal documents and records. They also went to selected barangays for barangay evaluation. This included the weight validation of selected preschool children in the barangays.

In addition to MELLPI, the RNET also conducted the Search for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committees, and Outstanding Nutrition Action Officers. Citeria used in the evaluation of these additional search and scheme for recognition were developed by the RNET and launched in 2014. The deliberation of results is set on 27 June 2016.
This yearly monitoring and evaluation of the nutrition programs conducted by the RNET will help the Local Government Units (LGUs) to improve the efficiency of their local nutrition planning and implementation. Through this, the nutrition situation in the LGUs can be further improved and can eventually lead to the eradication of malnutrition in the region.
