
Quezon City - To intensify local nutrition actions and to strongly address stunting and other forms of malnutrition in the province of Occidental Mindoro, the NNC-MiMaRoPa conducted a Workshop on Integrating nutrition in the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and Local Development Investment Plan (LDIP) on 4-8 November 2019 at the Axiaa Hotel, West Avenue, Quezon City. All eleven (11) municipalities of the province including the provincial nutrition office were represented by their respective Provincial and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (P/MNAOs), Municipal Health Officers (MHOs), Municipal Planning and Development Officers (MPDOs) and Municipal Agricultural Officers (MAOs).
The activity was graced by MIMAROPA National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) OIC- Regional Director Susan A. Sumbeling. In her inspirational message, Dir. Sumbeling commended the NNC and the province of Occidental Mindoro in coming up with this kind of activity to ensure that PPAN’s nutrition-specific, nutrition-sensitive programs as well as its enabling mechanisms are given importance and are integrated in the CDPs. She likewise explained the relationship of poverty and malnutrition, impact of malnutrition in health, education, agriculture and other sectors.
The workshop is NNC’s LGU mobilization strategy in scaling up nutrition. The participants were able to craft substantive local nutrition action plans (LNAPs) which will be presented to their respective local nutrition committees for approval.
