QUEZON CITY, Dec 2 (PIA) -- The National Nutrition Council gathered its nutrition advocate partners from Ilocos and MIMAROPA regions for a three-day technical exchange and sharing of best practices.
The regional participants were composed of officers from Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates – 1, Inc. (RONDA-1, Inc.) and Palawan, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro Nutrition Communicators (PROMO NutriCom).
The group toured the facilities of Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations Radyo Kailian in Sta Maria, Ilocos Sur and Radyo Karruba in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Radyo Kailian is a campus-based Nutriskwela Community Radio Station at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), which uses online and on-air platforms to promote nutrition programs to the community, particularly among farmers and home-based individuals.
Radyo Karruba is a Nutriskwela Community Radio Station managed by the local government of Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Aside from radio tours, the group also had an opportunity to learn about the health and nutrition programs of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, as shared by Mayor Juan Carlo S. Medina.
A plenary session provided a forum for RONDA-1 President Bernie Erasquin (Radyo Pilipinas-Dagupan Station Manager) and PROMO NutriCom Secretary Rubelyn Solis (Radyon Natin-Looc Station Manager) to present information about their respective organization’s structure, activities and best practices in advocating and promoting nutrition in their areas.
The technical exchange activity was initiated by NNC OIC-Nutrition Program Coordinators Ma. Eileen Blanco (MIMAROPA) and Kendall Pilgrim Gatan (Region 1). (MBRonquillo/PIAR4B)
