National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted orientation on the 2022 Updated Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Pro (MELLPI Pro) Tools on 30 May 2022 via Zoom.
The online activity was attended by more than 80 participants composed of Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators, and some members of the local nutrition committee.
NPC Ma. Eileen B. Blanco opened the activity with a welcoming remark expressing her gratitude for attending the orientation. NPC Blanco mentioned that the re-orientation aimed to guide the participants in conducting the evaluation and to be at the same level in implementing the MELLPI Pro which will cover the year 2021. She also encouraged everyone to evaluate all areas to identify points of improvement in program implementation and provide appropriate technical assistance.
The first part of the activity covered the review on the background, key features, and mechanics of MELLPI Pro as well as the journey to nutrition awards of the local government units and local nutrition focal points.
Afterwards, Nutrition Officer III Camille Chen and Nutrition Officer II Bianca Estrella provided a walk-through on the updated MELLPI Pro tools for LGU and LNFPs which will be used by the local nutrition evaluation teams highlighting the importance of filling-up the LGU profile before proceeding to rating per dimensions. Towards the end of the activity, an open forum was held to address concerns of the participants regarding the tool and the evaluation process.
With the target to start the regional level evaluation by July, LGUs are encouraged to start their local MELLPI Pro since the RO relies on the result of LGUs.
