05 2022 April Tutok Kainan News in Marinduque

To address rate of wasting and stunting among 0 to 23 months old children through improved quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of Early Childhood Care and Development – First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1K)-related services in the province of Marinduque, the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TKDSP) was introduced by the National Nutrition Council.

On 1 April 2022, all six (6) municipalities of Marinduque started its first month of implementation. During this month, dry ration with the use of FNRI commodities were provided to 196 beneficiaries, specifically, Rice Mongo (RIMO) Blend, Rice Mongo (RIMO) Sesame Blend, Momsie, and Mingo Meals in Plain, Ube, Chocolate, and Squash. Moreover, iron fortified rice as part of the wet feeding, was received by municipalities mid-April.

All focal persons at the municipal level facilitated the orientation and demonstration on how to properly prepare the commodities. Barangay Nutrition Scholars are tasked to oversee the daily monitoring ensuring that all commodities were provided and consumed by actual beneficiaries. BNSs with few numbers of beneficiaries conduct house-to-house monitoring while BNSs with multiple and distant beneficiaries gather at the barangay hall for strict observance.

Commodities to be consumed per week were packed for ease distribution. Also, each beneficiary of the program was handed over with one (1) copy of Pinggang Pinoy brochure for Pregnant and Lactating Women along with brief discussion on its components.
