NNC MIMAROPA Region successfully conducted the 2022 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony at the Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Manila on 29 November 2022. The special nutrition event was graced by our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, Director of DOST-FNRI and RD Mario S. Baquilod, Chair of the Regional Nutrition Committee.
Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol or MELLPI Pro is the monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition at the local government units and its local nutrition focal points. It measures program efficiency in relation to program, outreach, budget allocation and expenditure, as well as policies issued.
For this year, NNC MIMAROPA has conducted the monitoring and evaluation to the provinces and cities of the region for the 2021 nutrition program implementation and to the local nutrition focal points which includes the Provincial Nutrition Action Officers, Provincial Outstanding City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, Provincial Outstanding District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators, and Provincial/City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
In her keynote message, Dr. Agdeppa acknowledged the great contribution of our nutrition workers most specially the volunteer workers who are the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in the effective implementation of nutrition programs in the community. She also urged the local chief executives present in the event to invest in nutrition by allotting funds from their internal revenue allotment (IRA) to nutrition programs.
Also present were local chief executives, the Hon. Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. of the province of Marinduque and Hon. Mayor Marilou Flores-Morillo of the City of Calapan, who both delivered their response as Green Banner Seal of Compliance Awardees for 2021.
Hon. Augusto Leo Livelo of the municipality of Mogpog, Marinduque was also present to receive the award as provincial Green Banner, while Hon. Mayor Henry Joel C. Tevez of the municipality of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro and Hon. Vice Mayor Ismael S. Osorio Jr. of Looc, Romblon joined their BNS awardee in receiving the award.
Through this awarding ceremony, the exceptional performance in the implementation of nutrition programs of the local government units and local nutrition focal points were recognized.
