07192022 NM Ceremonial Activity at Abra de IlogAbra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro – The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA spearheaded the 2022 Regional Nutrition Month Ceremonial Activity last 19 July 2022 at the Arya Abra Gymnasium, in collaboration with the municipality of Abra de Ilog, Provincial Nutrition Office of Occidental Mindoro, and Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) MIMAROPA. The municipality of Abra de Ilog was chosen by the RNC MIMAROPA as it is considered the convergence area regionwide.

07192022 Mayor Diaz of Paluan Occidental Mindoro fully supports Radyo KapalayawanPaluan, Occidental Mindoro – Mayor Michael “Adobo” Diaz of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro expressed his full support to the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station – Radyo Kapalayawan as NPC Ma. Eileen Blanco met the newly-elected mayor last 18 July 2022.

A positive response was received by NNC MIMAROPA from the new administration to continue the operation of the radio in the area. Mayor Diaz assured that they will be working towards the better operationalization of the station including the provision of radio personnel. They also agreed to transfer the station in the Rural Health Unit Building for the meantime such that it will now be near the municipal compound.

The theme for this year's Nutrition Month campaign which is "New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!" calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards living with the COVID-19 virus. The theme signifies the key role of nutrition in building resilience from pandemic to endemic paradigm. The term "new normal" was adopted to indicate a transition to a better normal while bringing the positive impacts of the pandemic to become more resilient and prevent future pandemics. The pandemic has made a huge impact on nutrition, such as disruptions in delivering nutrition and related services, increased hunger incidence, etc. But there are also positive impacts such as innovation in service delivery, home food production, increased awareness of one's health and consuming healthy diets, and solidarity amongst the people to help each other.

As to what the objectives of the campaign state; 1.) Raise the awareness of the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the pandemic, 2.) Stimulate discussions among stakeholders on how to build back better the design, delivery, and scale-up of nutrition interventions; and 3.) Engage various sectors and the public in activities that promote nutrition.

The regional office is looking forward to conducting more webinar series to get a larger scope or group to help disseminate nutrition information and improve the overall nutrition well-being of the people in MIMAROPA.

Palawan Province – The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA headed by the Nutrition Program Coordinator and OIC Ma. Eileen B. Blanco together with Information Management Officer (IMO) Xylene Ann B. Notario was assisted by Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) Rachel T. Paladan in the conduct of monitoring visits in Dumaran, Roxas, and San Vicente, Palawan last 7-10 June 2022.

06012022 PROMO Nutri Com convenes for 2nd Quarter Meeting

PROMO Nutrition Communicators, the local media group of National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA convened for its second quarter meeting last 31 May 2022 via Zoom. Ten (10) members were present during the meeting to discuss status of media placements, production of MIMAROPA Nutri-times 2022 Issue, video documentary project and nutrition month celebration.

062022 Baragatan

Palawan Province – As part of the Baragatan Festival 2022, the Liga ng mga Barangay in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) convened for the Barangay-Yan sa Baragatan at the Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last 16 June 2022. It was attended by almost 800 Barangay Captains and SK Officials from the 23 municipalities throughout Palawan with the aim of discussing the problems in the barangays such as malnutrition, low vaccination rate, and peace and order throughout the province.
