NNC Bicol Support Womens Month 2022 CelebrationIn observance to the National Women's Month the National Nutrition Council Bicol honor women's vital contributions to nation-building by celebrating through Facebook livestreamed and Zoom platform on 18 March 2022. The theme "WE Make CHANGE Work for Women - Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran" seeks to educate and engage women as pioneers and beneficiaries of government programs and services to effect "change." The webinar was attended by nutrition officials and nutrition volunteers from various LGUs in the region, as well as NGOs and other stakeholders.

Several empowered women, gender equality advocate and resource person were invited to speak at the webinar. Ms. Maria Cecilia A. Mangampo, Labor Employment Officer III of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region V presented the "DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP)." According to Ms. Mangampo, emergency employment is a significant component of the government's response, particularly during this COVID-19 pandemic, and that DOLE’s program aims to contribute to poverty reduction and risk reduction among working poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers. Next discussant is Ms. Lovely Joy G.  Alvar, ADRA Project Manager "TOGETHER" that stands for "Uniting Towards Gender Equality for the Total Health and Rights of Women and Girls”. Ms. Alvar discusses "Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)," in which she empowers women and girls and contributes to gender equality. Furthermore, she discusses how important it is for these individuals to understand the rights they should have as citizens. Other resource person invited is Ms. Beverly Ong Dycoco, Member of the Board of Directors of Bicol Center for Community Development, Inc. She presented the topic "Women on Health and Nutrition: The Role of Women in a Healthy Nation." Ms. Dycoco discusses the importance of having healthy women that will leads to a healthy family, community, and country.

The National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) this year 2022 intends to celebrate women's and girls' accomplishments, assess gender equality measures, and predict activities that must be implemented to ensure growth in women's empowerment.
