The National Nutrition council is the lead agency for implementing the National Dietary Supplementation Program also known as Tutok Kainan.
The Province of Sulu is one of the beneficiaries of the TKDSP Phase 3, with 19 Barangays in 12 municipalities. Among these municipalities is the municipality of Jolo with two target Barangays (Bus-Bus and Tulay). On 23 February, 2023 the BLGU of Barangaya Tulay has launched the Tutuk Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP) spearheaded by most active Chairwoman Hja. Francisca J. Hairal. With the all-out support of the Barangay Health Workers of the Barangay Health Station headed by Ms. Fatima Marida Kadil-Bara, the launching of the TKDSP was a success and attended by the beneficiaries along with their mothers. Present at the program were the National Nutrition Council staff deployed in Sulu, DMO II (PNFP) Sheehan A. Kadil, and also the Jolo Nutrition Officer, Ms. Sherwina Imdani of the Integrated Public Health Office (IPHO) of Sulu.
The Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program Phase 3 aims to contribute to the nutritional improvement and prevention of stunting among children under 6-23 months old by providing nutritious food commodities for 180 days through complementary feeding to identified stunted, wasted and underweight children aged 6-23 months old. The TK-DSP is a strategy to improve the quality and quantity of food and nutrients intakes of the children as well as strengthen the nutrition program at the barangay level.
