Cotabato City. The Social Development Committee of BARMM conducted its 2nd regular meeting presided by Minister Raissa H. Jajurie on May 25, 2022 at BPDA Conference Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
One of the highlights of the meeting is the presentation of Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding Jr., of National Nutrition Council BARMM, on the importance of Local Nutrition Committee: the need to create in every LGU of BARMM. He asked, "Why do LGU need to invest in Nutrition?", he explained by showing the recent results of Expanded National Nutrition Survey 2018 & 2019 conducted by DOST FNRI, featuring the severe stunting prevalence rate yet with promising decline in a span of 4 years at most: Maguindanao from 45.6% down to 39.9% , Basilan from 48. 1% to 38.1% and Lanao Del Sur from 49.0% with a steep dive to 33.3%. However, this results are still high based in the World Health Organization Standard.

Cotabato City. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will implement this year the use of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) in all levels of the region. The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) and NNC BARMM partnered in conducting the two batches of Training of Trainers last March 21-26, 2022 in Davao City.
The updated MELLPI for LGUs and Local Nutrition Focal Points aims to evaluate the performance of local nutrition committees and its workers from Provincial Nutrition Action Officers, City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, District City Nutrition Program Coordinator and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
The participants are from Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-tawi and Marawi City, all are members of the local nutrition committee. NO III Teo discussed the guidelines of the MELLPI Pro tool, explained the electronic tool and provided tips in conducting the MELLPI Pro in the area. MILG Director Rashida Abdulla mentioned the significant impact of Mandanas-Garcia Ruling on the devolution of programs to Local government.

April 5, 2022. Presidential Decree No. 1569 mandated the deployment of one BNS in every barangay in the country to monitor the nutritional status of children and/or link communities with nutrition and related service providers. PD 1569 also mandated the NNC to administer the program in cooperation with local government units.
The National Nutrition Council Central Office together with the National Nutrition Council – BARMM held the turnover ceremony for the travelling allowance of the 23 Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Upi, Maguindanao on 5 April 2022 at Upi Municipal Conference Hall.

Ramadan is a sacred month of worship for Muslim around the world. Muslims are expected to read the Quran, perform prayers, and observe Saum (fasting) during this month. According to Muslim Religious Leaders, Ramadan occurs during the month in which the holy Quran began to reveal to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
One of the Five Pillars of Islam is Fasting. It is obligatory to healthy adults to observe fast. Fasting helps believers (Muslims) to purify their hearts, renew their faith, seek forgiveness to Allah Subhanahu WataAllah, and increase self-discipline. It is also a time to focus on what is most important and positive in a believer’s life.

February 20, 2022 Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. Nutriskwela Radyo Kasannangan aired the First Session of the Nutrition School On-The-Air (NSOA) focusing on “Kumainment Number 1: Kumain ng Iba’t Ibang Pagkain.”
Two students from Notre Dame of Bongao who underwent the Kabataang Radyo Brodkaster Para sa Nutrisyon (KRBPN) Training last December 2021 namely: Ms. Princess Urduja L. Sulayman and Mr. Philip John C. Caspillo hosted the program and was assisted by Student Announcer Carl Kevin Gontiñas.

April 6, 2022. National Nutrition Council, both from Central and Regional Office, held the handover ceremony for the travelling allowance of the 17 Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.
The ceremony was personally attended by the Regional Head Dr. Kadil Jojo Sinolinding who handed the check to Ms. Baitun Dicocolano, the Secretary of Municipal Mayor Salaban G. Diocolano, with MNAO Bai Johanna Y. Diocolano, IPHO Nutritionist Ms. Jacqueline E. Gurtiza, RND, Public Health Nurse Ms. Parida M. Guiapac and other LGU officials of the said municipality.
