February 8, 2022. South Upi. Mayor Insular means business when it comes to support in Nutrition and Health Programs. The 1st LGU to employ 2 Nutritionists to focus in improving the nutritional status of under-5 children of the Municipality. He stated “If no experts on nutrition shall teach the people, no one shall understand what nutrition means".
NPC Sinolinding discussed the important role of members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee in resolving issues of malnutrition. In 2016, South Upi ranked First in stunting among the 36 municipalities of Maguindanao. Ms. Chris Ann G. Pangol, the LGU’s Nutritionist and Dietitian shared her thoughts “Nutrition for them is just a common word but does not understand the impact on health and community”. RHU data stand significant improvement on the status of nutrition in 2016 until the present, after 5 years of intensive information.

Basilan. The Mayors of Municipality of Akbar, Al-Barka, Hji. Mohammad Ajul and Lantawan of Basilan signed the memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program in their respective municipality.
Through this agreement, the NNC and the LGU’s jointly agree to undertake complementary feeding of 06-23 months old children as an intervention in addition to their local nutrition program including initiatives supporting the ECCD F1K. This program aims to provide technical and logistical support to 240 children of Basilan.
The four (4) municipalities were targeted due to high rate of stunting in the area. The LGU’s recognize their important role in ensuring the holistic development of its children as integral in enhancing the quality of its human resource and in achieving sustainable local government development. Each LCE promised to show their full support for the successful implementation of the program.

Cotabato City. MP and Minister Aida M. Silongan of the Ministry of Science and Technology held a consultative meeting on November 30, 2021 with NNC BARMM headed by Dr. Sinolinding regarding effective nutrition interventions in BARMM where on-going projects on fortified food production and food supplement manufacturing is coming up in the island provinces of Sulu and Tawi-tawi to augment the existing facilities now operating in Maguindanao.
With the 2015 National Nutrition Survey results presented before the Women's Sector Volunteers highlighting stunting and underweight rates of the region. Data showed consistency with the Operation Timbang Plus results of Maguindanao where Ampatuan town registered the highest number of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). Included in the list of interventions were the Tutok Kainan Supplementation program in the 4 provinces of BARMM.

Davao City. The Bangsamoro Economic Develpoment Council spearheading the Sectoral Committees' Assessment Workshop of the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BPD) 2020-2022 held on January 25-27, 2022 at Dusit Thani Residence, Davao City. The sectoral workshop is in partnership with UN-FAO and Unicef. The 5 BEDC committees are expected to provide updated organizational data, major gaps and milestones of 1st BDP, and provide critical inputs for the 2nd formulation of the Bangsamoro Development Plan 2023-2028.
BPDA Director General Mohajirin T. Ali reminds the important task of every planners present in the formulation of the 2nd BDP 2023-2028.A series of workshops and meetings shall be expected until the finalization of the BDP by August 2022.

“Failure is not an option in fighting the double burden malnutrition in the BARMM region.” That was the emotional statement made by Local Chief Executive Mamanto Mamantal as he rallies behind his team against malnutrition in Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao. Together with the National Nutrition Council – BARMM an orientation on the Creation of Local Nutrition Committee in the municipality was conducted as the initial step in addressing the issues with concrete and systematic intervention on Oct 24, 2021.

February 10, 2022. Municipal Nutrition Committee of Upi held its regular meeting for the quarter focusing on the pressing issues about local nutrition issues and it's solutions. Attended and presided by Mayor Ramon Piang, the Vice Mayor, MPDO, Budget Officer, MHO Dr Carmelo Esberto, MNAO, MAO, MSWDO, MLGOO and Chief of Police of the Municipal Police Station were present. Ms. Jacqueline Gurtiza, the assigned Nutritionist and Dietitian in Upi presented the e-OPT results from 2019 to 2021 and the accomplishment reports of Barangay Nutrition Scholars with exemplary results. Indeed, the present nutritional Status is way better than the country's recent report.
Dr. Sinolinding highlighted the importance of the functionality of the MNC by formulating its LNAP and reminded the 12 PPAN target programs to mitigate the issues in malnutrition among under five children and to nutritionally at risk pregnant women.
