Davao City. The National Nutrition Council – BARMM concludes their 5-day Training on Nutrition in Emergencies and Information Management held on 14-18 November 2022 at Microtel by Wyndham Davao.
The Nutrition in Emergencies and Information Management Training contributes to the achievement of RA 10121 and that of PPAN goals, both calls for the mainstreaming of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health and Nutrition among other sectors. The training aims to strengthen the local trainers’ and nutrition cluster members with knowledge and skills in the various aspects of NiE-IM specifically to formulate DRRM-H-NiE-IM Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate Nutrition in Emergency programs before, during, and after the disaster.

The Bangsamoro Economic Development Council (BEDC) through the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) conducts the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2023-2028 Finalization Workshop held on 9 November 2022, Davao City.
The finalization workshop was attended by the BEDC Sectoral Committee permanent or alternate focal person: 1. Development Administration Committee (DACom); 2. Economic Development Committee (EDCom); 3. Social Development Committee (SDCom); 4. Infrastructure Development Committee (IDCom); and 5. Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Committee (PPOSSCom).

5-7 October 2022 / Kasinnahan Hotel, Isabela City, Basilan Province. The Provincial Government of Basilan under the leadership of Governor Jim Hataman Salliman participated during the conduct of the Provincial Nutrition Action Plan Development Workshop: Co-Creating our Preferred Reality for Nutrition and Food Security.
The three-day planning workshop formulation organized by ZFF in collaboration with NNC-BARMM aims to bring together the key stakeholders in the Province of Basilan and intends to support and strengthen capacity of the Provincial Nutrition Committee members and the stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive, responsive, evidence-based, and participatory Nutrition Action Plan for Basilan.

The Nutrition Cluster Team of BARMM through the National Nutrition Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Health-BARMM Nutrition Division conducts Nutrition Initial Needs Assessment and Rapid Nutrition Screening to affected vulnerable groups in three (3) Evacuation Centers in Cotabato City affected by typhoon Paeng, held on 21 October 2022.

Another milestone for the Bangsamoro Nutrition Committee to lead the 2nd formulation workshop of the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition 2023-2028 held on September 14-15, 2022 at Sun City Suites, General Santos City.
The 2-day workshop is in collaboration with the strong support of the development partners, namely World Food Programme, UNICEF, Nutrition International, World Health Organization and Zuellig Family Foundation, who guided the regional and provincial participants to craft an effective, realistic RPAN, and to align the strategies and interventions to Bangsamoro Development Plan 2023-2028 and to Bangsamoro Food Security and Nutrition Plan 2023-2028.

A ceremonial turnover of NNC’s BARMM Regional Leadership was held at Sweet Bliss Café, Cotabato City last 17 February 2023. Outgoing OIC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Retsebeth M. Laquihon, RND, MPD, MDM welcomed the new OIC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Marilyn C. Valeza, RND.
Assistant Secretary and Executive Director IV Azucena M. Dayanghirang, MD, MCH, CESO III gave an inspirational message and support to the newly appointed OIC RNPC and thanked RNPC Retsebeth M. Laquihon for her valuable services rendered in BARMM.
Dr. Maleja D. Jaamil, on behalf of MP Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding, Jr., DPBO of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority also gave his message of support and ensured that they are always open to extend assistance to NNC BARMM.
