Pilar Australia visit April 2022Butuan City- Team from the Australian Government - Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) visited Caraga region particularly the typhoon Odette hit areas of Siargao and Dinagat Islands on 5-6 April 2022.

The visit headed by Mr. Thanh Le, Counselor for Development monitored the response activities of the different aides shared by developmental partners, particularly on the Reproductive Health Medical Mission (RHMM) and the established Emergency Maternity Tent Facility (EMFT) in Barangay Pilaring, Pilar, Surigao del Norte.

The RHMM aims to bring access to reproductive health care and education to the community and share medical care and concerns and information.

Maternal and child packages, including nutrition interventions are integrated in the program which ensures better well being of the mother and the child.

On the other hand, the EMTF is used as an alternative, temporary medical point of care in communities where facilities have been non-functional and where maternal and child interventions are still needed.
Prepositioned humanitarian supplies from Australia forwarded to Odette ravaged local government units are; EMTF tents, air conditioning units, maternity packs, dignity kits, clean delivery kits, midwifery bags for community outreach and reproductive health kit.

The visit was joined by heads and dignitaries from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), World Food Programme (WFP), Community and Family Services International (CFSI), World Vision, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga supporting package interventions for nutrition. #NASLabordo
