DO Plaza April 8 2022BUTUAN CITY – National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga reached out to two hospitals of Agusan del Sur on April 8, 2022 as part of its strategy to advocate nutrition and nutrition-related programs in the hospitals, centers and facilities.

Administrative Officer, Mr. Ronnie Torralba of Talacogon District Hospital located at San Isidro, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur welcomed OIC-RNPC Dr. Niño Archie Labordo and NNC Caraga staff. The visit included discussion on the admission of children with severe acute malnutrition and the functionality of dietary services present in the hospital.

The team also visited the provincial hospital, D.O Plaza Memorial Hospital situated at Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The team was received by Chief Nurse Cecilia D. Labella and discussed the establishment of the lactation station, monitoring of admitted malnourished children and the application of the mother-baby-friendly facility with OIC-RNPC Labordo and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Laniebelle Angchangco.
Chief Nurse Labella expressed her willingness to be trained on Nutrition in Emergency Trainings, specifically on Inpatient Therapeutic Care (ITC) protocols and other nutrition-related training such Maternal Nutrition Infant Young Child Feeding (MNIYCF) training that could improve patient care in the hospital.

Additionally, NNC Caraga provided the hospitals with nutrition related brochures and materials to be distributed to their patients. #MPRayco
