ADS Meeting April 27 28Prosperidad, ADS- The National Nutrition Council Caraga led by OIC RNPC, Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo provided technical assistance and nutrition related updates in the Joint Meeting of the Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) and Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) on April 27-28, 2022 at the Agriculture’s Conference Hall, Government Center, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

With forty-eight (48) attendees, the meeting presided-over by the Acting-Assistant Provincial Administrator Geronimo L. Porlares, Jr. on behalf of Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr., the Chairman of Provincial Nutrition Committee discussed relevant concerns and issues on nutrition program implementation.

Included in the agenda presented by PNAO Laniebelle Angchangco are: (1) regional and provincial nutrition situation; (2) 2021 Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) accomplishments of the province and (3) the review of Evaluation of Food Production and Sanitation (EFPSAN).

OIC-RNPC Labordo discussed the key features of Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan of Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) of the Nutrition Programs, Projects and Activities and nutrition focal point persons at the local government units.
For the approaching nutrition month, NOII Vargas expounded the 2022 nutrition month campaign, “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang gawan ng Solusyon!” and suggested actions for partners and options for kick-off. The body also agreed to submit a nutrition month plan before the end of June and to submit documentation reports on or before the end of September.

Furthermore, PNFP Mariella P. Rayco provided updates on the Dietary Supplementation Program – Tutok Kainan, a program that aims to prevent stunting by giving nutritious food commodities to nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children 6-23 months old. The update includes the change in the commodities to be given to the beneficiaries and in the monitoring and evaluation system, the resubmission of updated masterlist per LGU and the status of implementation.

The meeting ended with a renewed determination of the participants as they are ready to face the challenge of Administrator Porlares, Jr., “to improve the poverty incidence by strengthening the nutrition program implementation in Agusan del Sur.”. #MPRayco
