RisePALO, Leyte - The Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Rise and Rebuild International Foundation Mr. Ray Goodson paid a courtesy visit to RNPC Dr. Catalino P.Dotollo, Jr. on February 9, 2023.

The COO was with his wife Debra Goodson, Mr. Benjamin D. Cinco, the local managing director and other nutrition staff.

The Rise and Rebuild Foundation is an international foundation committed to aiding the poor and the malnourished children and mothers in the Philippine Islands. The foundation has a local office located in Carigara, Leyte with nutrition support staff. The local office supported various LGUs in Leyte in its supplementary feeding programs for children for 180 feeding days.

The local nutrition office of the foundation also supports other nutrition component programs such as home or backyard and community gardening, livelihood projects and establishment of nutrition offices.

They coordinate with local nutrition offices through the respective Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO), Provincial Nutrition Office and the Regional Office of the National Nutrition Council 8.

The foundation’s initial program began with the building of communal bathrooms after the devastating Typhoon Haiyan in November of 2013. Soon after, the expanded their programs with nutrition specific and sensitive projects aligned with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).

The RNPC urged them to expand their assistance to other LGUs in the region.

During Mr. Goodson and wife’s visit, they told the RNPC that their funding for nutrition is “limitless”.

They are now coordinating with Vitamin Angels a local non-government organization (NGO) to support vitamin A supplementation.

Moreover, as a support to the feeding programs implemented in selected municipalities in Leyte, they will give deworming tablets. The RNPC told the visiting foreign COO to coordinate with local health officers and their respective mayors.

Mr. Goodson hopes to meet NNC Assistant Secretary Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang in one of their engagement meetings in Manila soon.

With the presence of an international foundation like the Rise and Rebuild Foundation, the region hopes to implement sustainable nutrition specific and sensitive programs and projects in the end view of reducing stunting and wasting is this part of the region. #RNPC-CPD.
