PALO, Leyte - The Scaling Up Nutrition or SUN Movement was founded on principle that all people have a right to food and good nutrition and focuses on first 1000 days of life.
The SUN 3.0 Movement Strategy focuses on demonstrating that the individual and collective efforts from the academic, business, civil society, development partners and youth sectors will contribute to accelerating nutrition results.
The Youth Network, led by its chair, An Waray Youth Director Ms. Diana Jane Saballe, held its first organizational meeting last February 17, 2022.
The activity was well-supported by Mr. Mariano Carlos G. Noel, Chief of Planning of An Waray. It was attended by its members from Junior Jaycees (JJC)-Eastern Visayas, Philippine Red Cross Youth-Leyte Chapter and Rotaract Club-Leyte.
Ms. Thaiza Mithel D. Cajigas of NNC8 provided the technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of the newly organized network.
The Youth Sector is committed to focus on youth empowerment, advocacy and communication, and resource mobilization to address the malnutrition in the region.
During its meeting, the group profiled possible additional members of the network and commenced planning on its first activity targeting a municipality in Leyte with the highest prevalence of stunting.
They aim to establish collaboration with other SUN networks to ensure the success of the activity. #DMOII-TMDC
