PALO, Leyte – The Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Calbiga town in Samar, Ms. Evelyn Jabonete has led the start of the implementation of the dry feeding of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program Phase 3 on February 13, 2023.

Alongside her were Nurses Deployment Projects (NDP), two Nutrition Staff, with Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) who assisted in the orientation and facilitation of the feeding.

An Orientation to the caregivers and parents of the beneficiaries were given explaining the duration and purpose of the feeding program.

The Phase 3 is targeted to 6 to 23 months old children and would last for 180 days in total. Barangay Officials in the covered barangays were also oriented and assisted in the facilitation of the feeding program including the Barangay Captains and Kagawad on Health of Brgy. Patong, Borong, and Macaalan.

Intersectoral interventions and involvement of leaders in the community with nutrition activities and programs has been encouraged and proved helpful and effective in the collective fight against malnutrition in the Philippines.  #DMOII-IFD
