RNPC speaksPALO, Leyte - The 1st Quarter meeting of Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs) was conducted at the MacArthur Viewdeck Park, candahug, Palo, Leyte on April 7, 2022.

Highlights of the meeting was their Constitution and By-laws (CBL) which is on its finalization stage. Most MNAOs asked regarding benefits of NAOs under the CBL. The CBL is silent on the provision of benefits among registered NAOs hence they have to review their CBL before its ratification.

Other agenda taken was the giving out of second quarter MNAOs and BNSs incentives from PHO. Likewise on the request for LNAP training for all LGUs and Nutrition in Emergencies + Information Management training and NIEM planning workshop.

RNPC Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. attended and gave updates on nutrition programs and projects. He emphasized the start of the Phase III Tutok Kainan: Dietary Supplementation Program for 6-23 months.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Pagkaing Pilipino, Susi sa Pag-unlad at Pagbabago.”

ROB CatarmanCATARMAN, Northern Samar - PNFP Ramel Bandibas conducted Tutok Kainan:Dietary Supplementation Program Orientation and consultative meeting with Northern Samar Provincial Agrarian Reform Partners on April 5, 2022.

The activity focusses on the orientation and overview of the program, guidelines on the engagement with ARBOs, Marketing Agreement, documentary requirements and the weekly cycle menu which includes commodity type and volume of products. As part of the discussion, it has been emphasized that the agreed price of the products is already inclusive of the transport cost and should be delivered within the specific period of time.

On the other hand, with seven (7) covered municipalities in TK:DSP in Northern Samar, two (2) Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) committed to enter into an agreement to supply raw products to specific municipalities with the required volume of products, meats, vegetables, fruits among others, as ordered by the National Nutrition Council.

Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) are the partners of National Nutrition Council in ensuring the sustainability of the program especially when it comes to providing hot meals l. The ARBOs will be the direct seller of farm products/services in coordination with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

BNAP MeridaTACLOBAN CITY - The Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) is the local version of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), the country's directional framework for nutrition improvement.

Lead by their Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Mr. Ernesto Pening, Barangay Nutrition Committee Members from 21 barangays of Merida, Leyte, actively participates during the workshops.

Javier MHOPALO, Leyte - In its first Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA), Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. had a dialogue with Provincial Health Officer (PHO) II and OIC-Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) of the province of Eastern Samar, Dr. Efipania Marian Isiderio.

Both had a side conversation on the creation of additional nutrition permanent plantilla position in the province. RNPC Dr. Dotollo advocated Dr Isiderio to include in their Devolution Transition Plan (DTP) creation of nutrition office and creation of permanent nutrition plantilla position.

Dr. Isiderio vowed to upgrade instead the position of Nutritionist- Dietitian II (ND II) to ND IV. She will prioritize the upgrading this year with or without the DTP. She however said, that instead of creating a separate office, she will create a separate unit for nutrition service. She will augment additional staff to assist the PNAO. The Human Resources for Health-Nutrition Dietitian Deployment Program (HRH-NDDP) will also be assisting the nutrition office.

ARBO DaramDARAM, Samar - Provincial Nutrition Focal Point- Samar, Irene Dagami met with San Roque Farmer's Association ((SRFA) Members Ms. Silva and Analyn to discuss the TK DSP program and the ARBOs who will supply raw feeding commodities ofthe identified barangays of the municipalities of Daram, Samar.

Barangays of Mayabay and Talisay are the beneficiaries of the TK-DSP for 6-23 months old children.

Present during the meeting were Magleam Versoza, Agrarian Reform Officer representing Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and MNAO Alexis Garduce.
